Application and Selection Criteria

Fully Funded Awards

Applicants for Fully Funded Awards who are shortlisted for interview will be invited to New Delhi for an interview by the Trust. The interview will be held in late February/ early March. Candidates will be informed 20 days before the interview. Results will be announced in April 2009.

It is important that the application must be filled clearly since the interview will be based on the information provided in the form and statement of purpose.

Your statement of purpose should clearly indicate the following:

  • The purpose of your proposed study/attachment
  • The specific area on which you want to concentrate
  • Where you want to study/be attached and why
  • Describe how you intend to use your newly acquired skills/experience when you return to India

If you want to follow a set course of study please specify both the course and the institution. Please also give details of the UK institution/s where you have secured a place. Precedence will usually be given to applicants who have secured appropriate places at UK institutions.

The enclosures with the application form should include

  1. Portfolio/Sample of work
  2. A set of press clippings (photocopies. if applicable)
  3. Two references from people who are familiar with your work (in original)
  4. Proof of educational qualifications (photocopies)
  5. A curriculum vitae

Please note:

  • Candidates in Architecture, Fine Arts, Applied Arts and related subjects must submit CD’s or 12-15 colour slides of recent creative work giving the size of the original work, the material used and the date of completion.
  • Candidates for Film, Music, Dance and Acting must submit a good quality CD or DVD
  • Only portfolio/slides/DVD’s will be returned.

Grants

Applications for Grants should be made either directly to the Trust by e-mail to cwit@btinternet.com or through the British Council in India. They should include the following

  • A brief CV including your e-mail address and postal address
  • A statement of what you want to do in the UK and for academic researchers which sources you want to consult (maximum 2 pages)
  • The names and e-mail addresses of two referees who are familiar with your work
  • An assurance that you are within the eligible age range and have not received a grant from the Trust within the last five years

No form is required.
Applications can be submitted throughout the year and will be considered by April at the latest. Applicants will be informed by the Secretary of the Trust whether they have been successful or not.
