Commonwealth National Human Rights Commissions Project (CNHRC Project)

The Commonwealth Human Rights Commissions Project was a major British Council project running from 2002 to 2006 that aimed to strengthen networking between Commissions in Commonwealth countries and was supported by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The project closed on 31 December 2006 and this website is an archive of the activities, reports and other publications resulting from the project.

About the Project

Aimed to develop an effective network and support system for Commissions in the Commonwealth, in order to increase and improve the impact of their work.

Information Service

An information service was provided to facilitate sharing of information and experience among National Human Rights Commissions across the Commonwealth. This service provided regular e-Newsletter and thematic e-Alert.

Workshops

A series of regional workshops were organised by us across the Commonwealth, for key staff from Commissions from 2002 to 2005. In 2006 we launched a Staff Exchange Programme for the staff of the Commonwealth National Human Rights Commissions.

Publications

Read training manuals, workshop reports and researched publications produced by or for the National Human Rights Institutions/Commissions.
