Sharing UK experience on Enhancing Efficiency and Accountability of the Judiciary
The Right Honourable Sir Igor Judge is the President Queen’s Bench Division of England and Wales.  He visited India during March 2006 and shared UK’s experiences on ‘Efficiency and Accountability of the Judiciary – with particular reference to judicial case management’.  During his visit to India he met and interacted with Judges, lawyers, law teachers and law students in Kolkata, Delhi, Bhopal and Chennai.  He also interacted with the judges on the subject of Absolute Vicarious Liability.  His talk to law students of the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata and law students of the University of Jammu on ‘The Sentencing Decision’ was greatly appreciated.

Corporate Social Responsibility
British Council organised two competitions for post-graduate management students from all over India, with Institute of Integrated Learning in Management and Association of Sustainability Practitioners UK. The competitions enabled students to do field research on the drivers and barriers of CSR and practice of CSR and Leadership. The purpose of this publication is to widely share the prize-winning entries of the CSR competition, along with some latest reading from UK and India.

C K Daphtary Memorial Lecture 2005 – Women’s Rights are Human Rights by Cherie Booth QC
This lecture was jointly organised by the British Council, Inns of Court (India) Society and the Association of British Scholars Delhi, in memory of C K Daphtary who was the first Solicitor General of India.
Cherie Booth QC, UK’s leading silk specialist on human rights addressed a packed auditorium at British Council in New Delhi reinforcing the message that women’s rights effectively are human rights.  Read her speech.

V Connect Plus– Sharing UK, India and International experience on Human Rights, Child Rights and Women’s Rights
The V-Connect Plus Indo-British Videoconference Series provides an opportunity for sharing knowledge and experience using technology across boundaries.  The British Council has organised V Connect videoconference series for a range of partners in India and South Asia to provide access to resource persons in the UK and other countries.

Beyond Borders
Beyond Borders is a Connecting Futures project of the British Council providing a platform for young people from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UK to come together to share and address issues related to identity, diversity and active citizenship.
The project takes an approach of working with a selected group of young people between the age of 18-22 years, in each country who have shown a potential for leadership, team work and a commitment towards social issues.
