The Beyond Borders 2005 Festival is back!
Come and celebrate active citizenship with the young team of Beyond Borders!
Music, Films, Theatre, workshops, exhibition, creative activities and much more!
Beyond Borders, a part of the British Council’s Connecting Futures initiative, is now in its second year. The project began in December 2004 with the selection of a core group of dynamic young people from Delhi. After a life skills camp, which included training in conflict management, team building and leadership, the group organised the first Beyond Borders Festival in February 2005. The group of 24 has now grown to include more young people, and has undertaken action projects on Life Skills, Sex Education, Democracy and Female Foeticide.
A celebration of this work is the second Beyond Borders Festival on November 29-30 at the British Council. The festival will showcase the team’s work on the field through presentations. Similar presentations on action projects will be made by Beyond Borders participants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UK. The Festival will reach out many more young people and provide them an opportunity to share their views and perceptions on identity, diversity and active citizenship through various media such as theatre, music, films, exhibitions, workshops and creative activities such as art.
Beyond Borders is a regional project providing a platform for young people from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and the UK to come together to share and address issues related to identity, diversity and active citizenship and is entirely designed and run by young people between 18-22 years.
Beyond Borders is a project under British Council’s global programme called Connecting Futures. Connecting Futures aims to build mutual understanding, learning and respect among young people in UK and other countries. A range of exciting projects and activities is connecting over 60,000 young people in over 50 countries through Connecting Futures.
