The UK Environment Film Fellowships (UKEFF) were awarded every year from 2005 to 2010 to Indian environmental filmmakers, for creating 12 minute impactful documentaries. Every year, a theme was decided and filmmakers were encouraged to submit proposals for films which depicted originality in research work in terms of topical relevance to the theme. Filmmakers teamed-up with subject experts/ professionals/ institutions and worked closely with them during the making of the film to ensure a well-researched and high quality film. The purpose of UKEFF was to build capacity and encourage the environment filmmakers’ community in India. The films made by these filmmakers are important communication tools that drive awareness and action among viewers on the impacts and possible solutions for safeguarding the environment in India.
The UKEFF project is closed but the films are available for use by institutions/ NGOs as a relevant resource in communicating climate change
