Creative Writing Trainers’ Workshop

British Council is holding a one-week residential creative writing trainers’ workshop in Chennai from Tuesday, 3 November to Saturday, 7 November 2009.

Eminent novelist, playwright and critic Louise Doughty from the UK and author and academic Rimi B Chatterjee from India will conduct the workshop.

The purpose of the workshop is to train Indian teachers and writers to become teachers of creative writing. Through this workshop the British Council will develop a pool of professional creative writing tutors who will be called on to teach creative writing to children and young people at our offices across India.

Essential criteria

Applicants have been chosen on the basis of the following requirements:

  • have a good command of the English language
  • have an enthusiasm for literature in English
  • be either teachers with a strong interest in creative writing, or writers with a strong interest in teaching
  • have a desire and commitment to deliver courses at British Council centres.
