Day One

Morning

  • Aims of the course
  • Format of the MRCS
  • Detailed description of the structure and format of the Oral examination
  • Group sessions on basic science segments of the Oral examination - Applied Surgical Anatomy, Applied Physiology and Applied Surgical Pathology.

Afternoon

  • Group sessions continue
  • Summary of the day’s proceedings

Day Two

Morning

  • Detailed description of the structure and format of the Clinical examination
  • Surface Anatomy for the MRCS
  • Proactive group sessions on the 4 Clinical Bays

Afternoon

  • Group sessions on clinical segments of the Oral examination – Operative Surgery, Critical Care and Principles of Surgery
  • Summary of the day’s proceedings

Day Three

Morning

  • Detailed description of the structure and format of the Clinical Communication Skills examination
  • Proactive group sessions on the Type I and Type II Clinical
  • Communication Skills Bays

Afternoon

  • Proactive group sessions on clinical examination skills and presentation in all four clinical bays
  • Summary of the day’s proceedings

Day Four

Morning

  • Anatomy revision with prosections
  • Mock Oral examinations

Afternoon

  • Mock Oral examinations continue
  • End of course summary
