What is BTEC? Is BTEC same as Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)?

Edexcel incorporates BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council), the top provider of applied and vocational qualifications. BTEC was formed in 1983 with the merger of TEC and BEC, and has taken the lead in the training of technologists and professionals. Since 1983 over four million students in the UK alone have enrolled on BTEC vocational programmes.

It is not a Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech) qualification.

HND is short for Higher National Diploma. The Higher National Diploma qualification has obtained recognition throughout the world as both a route to employment and as a suitable exemption for a part of a university degree. The Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computing and Business Applications has been developed to enable participants to exploit knowledge of computing, web based development and marketing to further their own aspirations. The course has been developed in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University and others to ensure a rich learning experience.
Is HND a degree programme?
The Higher National Diploma creates progression routes to a degree. HND holders are accepted into the second or third year of a related degree course in scores of institutions worldwide.
Is HND a recognised qualification? What after HND?
HND is a recognised qualification for higher education or employment. After successful completion of the HND you could move on to the second or third year of a related degree course in the UK or US.
What is the duration of the programme?
The BTEC HND in Computing and Business Applications can be studied at the British Council, New Delhi in two years through online, flexible study mode.
What is the procedure for admission to the BTEC HND course? Is there an entrance test?

Eligibility for admission to the BTEC HND programme is based on an aptitude test that is administered by Edexcel International. To be eligible to take the aptitude test, the candidate should have passed the CBSE/ICSE 10+2 or equivalent examination with an aggregate of at least 50% marks.

To register for the aptitude test please download the application form. Fill in all the details, paste your passport sized photograph and send it to the MLZ along with a copy of your 10+2 marksheet.

Where do I study the programme?
Students are time-tabled to use the British Council’s Managed Learning Zone twice a week with a local facilitator.

Students are time-tabled to use the British Council’s Managed Learning Zone twice a week, three hours a day with a local facilitator. It is compulsory to attend the classes.
Can I study this course from anywhere?
HND in Computing & Business Applications can be studied only from the Managed Learning Zone, British Council, New Delhi.
Are there any scholarships?
The fee of this course is heavily subsidised and we do not offer any scholarships. However, student loans can be availed from Banks to pursue this course.
How many hours are we allotted to use the Managed Learning Zone (MLZ)?
Students are time tabled to use the British Council’s Managed Learning Zone twice a week, three hours a day with local facilitator. Besides the allotted scheduled classes, you shall have to book extra working hours on agreement with your class facilitator.
Can I take up this course on a full time basis?
No, this is an online/part-time course and can be done through these means only.
Is there a fast track to complete this course in less than 2 years?
HND in Computing and Business Applications can be completed in 2 years only
What will be the teaching methodology?
Teaching will be through online learning and studying at the Managed Learning Zone at the British Council, New Delhi. There shall be practical assignments, tutorials, face-to-face sessions and support.
What study materials are you providing us with?
We shall give you all the study materials required to assist you with the course including CD-ROMS, handouts, lecture notes, books etc. You would also get free membership to the British Council Library.
How much does the HND cost?
An all-inclusive fee of £ 2400 (approximately Rs. 1.8 lakhs) will apply to students studying for the HND in Computing & Business Applications at the Managed Learning Zone (MLZ) of the British Council, New Delhi.
How do I pay the fees?

The fees can be paid in four equal installments by a Demand Draft in Pound Sterling, payable to ‘London Qualifications Ltd.’
