Edexcel

Edexcel International is the department of Edexcel that deals exclusively with customers outside the UK. Formed in 1997, it has a team of over 60 staff, including its own Customer Relations Unit, operating in over 105 countries.

Since 1983 over four million students in the UK alone have enrolled on BTEC vocational programmes.

London Examinations (formerly known as The University of London Examinations and Assessment Council) has a history stretching back to 1838. In recent years, London Examinations has introduced modular A Levels and currently has over two million subject entries across its range of qualifications.

BTEC and London Examinations courses, syllabuses and qualifications are nationally and internationally accredited and audited. They are respected by employers and educationalists alike. Edexcel qualifications equip students with the vital knowledge, skills and confidence to meet the challenges of work in a global market.

The BTEC HND in Computing and Business Applications

The Higher National Diploma (HND) has obtained recognition throughout the world as both a route to employment and as a suitable exemption for a part of a university degree. The BTEC HND in Computing and Business Applications has been developed to enable participants to exploit knowledge of computing, web based development and marketing to further their own aspirations. The course has been developed in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University and others to ensure a rich learning experience.

Students on successful completion of the HND in Computing and Business Applications will:

  • Be aware of the role of computing and business applications within business;
  • Possess the skills to develop professional web-based applications;
  • Be able to apply professional computer programming skills;
  • Be capable of applying marketing skills and knowledge in the online marketplace;
  • Make a greater contribution to any current employment;
  • Raise their career progression opportunities;
  • Have developed a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes that are essential for successful performance in working life.

Entrance requirements

Eligibility for admission to the BTEC HND programme is based on an aptitude test that is administered by Edexcel International at British Council. To be eligible to take the aptitude test, the candidate should have passed the CBSE/ICSE 10+2 or equivalent examination in any stream with an aggregate of at least 50% marks.

The aptitude test

This is a one-hour pen and paper test conducted by Edexcel International at the British Council New Delhi. The test consists of thirty multiple-choice questions and one eighty-word essay. These questions will cover a wide range of topics, including English language skills, logic and numerical ability of secondary school level.

To register for the aptitude test please download the application form Fill in all the details, paste your passport sized photograph and send it to the MLZ along with a copy of your 10+2 mark sheet.

Fee guidelines

An all-inclusive fee of £ 2400 will apply to students studying the HND in Computing & Business Applications at the Managed Learning Zone (MLZ) of the British Council, New Delhi. The fees can be paid in four instalments of £600 each, payable by sterling demand draft only, drawn in favour of ‘London Qualifications Ltd.’ payable in London.
