Since Anish Kapoor’s first solo exhibition in the country of his birth was opened by Smt. Sonia Gandhi in November 2010, we’ve been putting in place the building blocks to build fresh relationships so that far more artists, curators and art organisations can exchange work and ideas between the UK and India, with numerous UK galleries and art festivals networking in India in 2011.
We’re excited that the much-loved gallery at the British Council in New Delhi is reopening in October 2011, offering precious space for new artists, curators and exhibitions that connect the UK and India; and as the proud owners of one of the world’s great collections of modern art, we’re working with emerging curators and looking for partners to find exciting new ways for work by some of the UK’s greatest contemporary artists to be seen, and freshly interpreted, in India.
