British Council India

A Disappearing Number, the astonishing play by Complicite that toured India in 2010, was not only a great example of UK creativity: it also made a powerful argument for the value of international collaboration, whether in arts, science or education.

The British Council’s theatre programmes take that to heart, fostering new relationships through networking, supporting collaborative projects in development and seeing them through to reach full fruition. When Mindwalking tours India in November 2011, it’s the culmination of a relationship that started at a British Council event in Edinburgh in 2009; when The Snow Queen opens in London this Christmas, and hopefully plays to Indian audiences in 2012, it’s not just a great UK-India collaboration but a remarkable return by an author whose connections with the UK started through the British Council way back in 2000. The best international relationships are gifts that just keep on giving.
