Soundpad is British Council’s music platform. Through Soundpad, British Council encourages the exchange of musical influences and ideas between musicians and industry experts in the UK and India.
We have been supporting the music industry in India in a variety of ways since 2006, through cross-cultural collaborations, industry conferences and artist tours. British Council Soundpad, through their role as a catylst works on creating new opportunities within the independent music sector in India and the UK. These projects are shaping India into a viable and recognisable music market for the international music industry.
British Council Soundpad got its name from a compilation album (by the same name) with tracks by four Indian bands – Swarathma, Medusa, Advaita and Indigo Children – produced by the legendary British producer, John Leckie. The album launch was followed by a three-city India tour and a trip to the UK, where the bands got a chance to showcase their talent to an international audience.
