IYSEY Awards - India Finalist Announced IYDEY Awards - India Finalist Announced
IYCE is a unique programme of awards, managed by British Council UK, that rewards the talent and initiative of young creative entrepreneurs from across the creative industries.
The Programme identifies young creative entrepreneurs, aged 25-35, in the international creative sector who have the passion and skills to be a leader in their local industry and really put the best of their local creative talent on the global map. Each year 10 countries from emerging markets send their ational finalists, selected from a nation wide application process, to the UK for ten days to gain an understanding of their sector, the development of the UK creative economy and to introduce them to important contacts for either collaborative or commercial work in future.
The UK Visit is run alongside a major trade event and/or festival (London Book Fair, 100% Design etc.) to highlight the centrality of London (and the UK) to the global creative economy, to showcase UK good practice in terms of international engagement and innovation, and for a chance for them to really do business – and demonstrate their entrepreneurial flair in promoting the best of what their country has to offer in that particular field.
The overall international winner of the award is chosen at the end of the Tour based on presentations made to a panel of jury members comprising some of UK’s leading sector experts. The winner receives a cash prize to be spent on a project in collaboration with the British Council. In some cases it also includes a free stand at the trade exhibition in the next year.
A key aim of the programme is to focus the participants’ engagement with the UK and especially with young creative entrepreneurs within the UK. Through the programme we seek to develop new international networks for young creative entrepreneurs, with the UK – and relationships with UK creative entrepreneurs – at the centre of this network. We also seek to stimulate the development of exceptional creative entrepreneurs and facilitate a wider debate about the skills and character traits of a successful creative entrepreneur.
British Council India has been participating in the IYCE programme since 2005
