Purpose:
This unique page offers the full complement of British Council services and offerings who we are, what we do and why.

Description:

ACTIVITY LANDING

Purpose:
This is the landing page for each art form e.g. Literature or Dance, and at present is unique to the Arts site.

Description:
This template allows for a brief introduction to the various sub-sections of an art form such as the various activities, education projects, funding events and any special features. It also provides links to news, global events and showcases, through listings and promotion areas.

ACTIVITY TYPE LANDING

Purpose:
General Alphabetical listings with ability to link to more detailed content if so desired.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top of the page. Underneath is the option to show the testimonial lozenge with 4th level navigation, up to 6 related links and aa 'A to Z listing' below that. The right hand column, which has an editable background colour, starts with a title and sub bar at the top. Underneath this is bold text object with the possibility of 26 slots for alphabetically listing links and text. The bottom of the page has optional paging facility.

CONNECTING LANDING

Purpose:
Link to range of newsletters for British Council Centres

Description:
The template is split into 2 columns. The left hand side has an image object at the top with text below. The right hand column, which has an editable background colour, has text at the top with the option to show up to 4 slots below with text, image and link properties.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left-hand column is 250 pixels wide and starts with an image object in the top left corner of the template. The image size must be 250 pixels wide. Below the image is a text slot for the copyright notice of the image, with 4th level navigation and up to 10 related links underneath that can be turned on or off using Edit Extensions. The right-hand column, which has an editable background colour, begins with a title and sub bar. Underneath is the main content text.

COURSE DATES

Purpose:
Details of dates and times for Courses.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top. Underneath is the option to display 4th level navigation and up to 6 related links below that. The right hand column, which has an editable background colour, contains a title and sub bar. Underneath is the main content with an option of up to 6 slots for course dates information. The bottom of the page has optional next and previous links.

COURSE DETAILS

Purpose:
In-depth information about individual courses content of course, description of level etc.

This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column contains an image object at the very top of the page. Underneath the image is choice to show or hide the testimonial lozenge. Directly below the images is the option to display 4th level navigation with the possibility of showing up to 6 related links below that. The right hand column, which has an editable background colour, starts with a title and sub bar. Below this lies the main content text with the opportunity to show a maximum of 6 slots, which include location, duration and cost details.

DIVISIONAL 1

Purpose:
These pages are used for Arts and culture, Science and Technology, Education, ELT, Library Service, Governance and Exams. DIVISIONAL 2

Purpose:
These pages are used for Arts and culture, Science and Technology, Education, ELT, Library Service, Governance and Exams. DYNAMIC GALLERY COMPETITION

Purpose:
This unique competition template provides the option to display as many images as is required.  It also provides the option within edit extensions to Show/hide an image search box, and select the number of images to show per page. This template is for competitions only, allowing users to search for categories using the search function.


Description:
Using this template the naming conventions must be adhered to, especially if you want to have more than one page using the competition gallery template on your site.  
Example is as follows – country name-keyword-competition eg: brasil-children-competition, peru-zerocarboncity-competition, etc.  

The image sizes that must be used on this template are: ‘Portrait’ no larger than H500xW350 pixels, ‘Landscape’ no larger than H400xW500 pixels.  

All images for this template must be loaded into your country group, ensuring that the naming convention is adhered to (as above) eg: brasil-children-gallery-021-normal.jpg, peru-zerocarboncity-gallery-021-normal.jpg, scotland-connectingfutures-gallery-021-normal.jpg etc. Please note: the images must also be sub-typed #Competition Gallery, if this is not done the images will not display.  Only the large images need loading as the thumbnails are generated dynamically.

When using the search function, first you must add the categories into the editable table.  Then when naming the images, you must add the category into the name i.e. brasil-children-climate-change-gallery-021-normal.jpg, or brasil-children-genetics-gallery-021-normal.jpg etc.  

The number of images to display per page is selected using edit extensions.  

DYNAMIC E-CARD

Purpose:
This page offers the ability to create e-Card forms with the ability to send e-Cards to friends and colleagues.

Description:
The template has a default image which will show by default if no image is selected for e-Card.

DYNAMIC IMAGE GALLERY

Purpose:
This unique template provides the option to display as many images as is required.  It also provides the options within edit extensions to Show/hide an image search box, the ability to link the images to an e-card template, and select the number of images to show per page. This template is ideal for displaying images, allowing users to search for images using the search function, or sending e-cards.


Description:
Using this template the naming conventions must be adhered to, especially if you want to have more than one page using the dynamic gallery on your site.  
Example is as follows – country name-keyword-competition eg: brasil-children-competition, peru-zerocarboncity-competition, etc.

EDUCATIONUK A TO Z

Purpose:
This template has been designed to be used for linking to UK institution profiles (only available to Education UK Partnership countries). It can also be used for any purpose where information needs to be listed in alphabetical order.

The template is divided into two columns. The left column provides space for alphabetical text objects with an alphabetical index link object above. The right column contains a range of object slots that can be switched on / off from the edit extensions menu. EDUCATIONUK CONTENT 1

Purpose:
This template is used for displaying products / content / information and is structured to separate content into components. This template can also be used for event calendar-type layouts and purposes.

Description:
The template is divided into two columns. The left column can hold between one and 10 text objects with header, text and image slots. The header from each text object is used to automatically create an in-page navigation object beneath the page introduction. The right column contains a range of object slots that can be switched on / off from the edit extensions menu. Purpose:
This template is used for displaying products / content / information and is structured with a single text box structure for use for multiple purposes.

Purpose:
This is the Education UK country website home page template. Its purpose is to introduce the Education UK offer and provide users with quick access to significant content within the site. This template should only be used as the home page.

Purpose:
This template is developed for the purposes of creating a Virtual Tour of the UK for EducationUK.

Description:
The template is split into various sections which are determined in the navigation on the right. All sections of content are editable within this template if you have the respective rights.

Important to note:
In order for the template to work, the following rules need to be adhered to:

1. The template should be placed in the viewtree and set to INVISIBLE
2. An internal link must be created, linked to the page and the parameter '?vt=home' added to the URL PARAMETER field.
3. If you wish the page to be available from the navigation, this link (not the page) must be used as a means for the web users to access the page.

EMBED MOVIE

Purpose:
Template with the facility to host three different methods of streaming: Windows Media player, Real Audio and media hosted by Stream UK.

Description:

Purpose:
This template is used to create the dynamic FAQ question list pages.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left-hand column starts with an image object in the top corner. Underneath is the option to show 4th level navigation with up to 10 main frequently asked category links below. These navigation links can be further subdivided to two more levels in which up to 5 subcategories that can be put in each. The right hand column, which has an editable background colour, contains a title and sub bar at the top of the page. Underneath is the option to show or hide up to 20 slots that hold questions and part answers. Full answers are created in a pop up which is activated through the 'more' link.

DYNAMIC FAQS 3 :: POPUP

Purpose:
This template is used to create FAQ popup pages.

Description:
This page is the pop-ups which are activated by the 'more' link on the question list. The pop up contains a title, mail link, print link, CLOSE link and question and answer text boxes. The page is created in the navigation and then an internal link made before the page is deleted from the tree. The internal link is then inserted in the appropriate place on the 'Question list' page.

Important to note:
When creating an internal link to one of these pages, the following line must be added in the TAG ATTRIBUTE field in the properties of the internal link:
              onClick="openFAQPopup(this, 270, 330);  return false;"
Change the values of the numerical parameters to change the height and width of the popup window. Additionally, the following text must be added to the URL Parameter field:
              ?qid=<!WEM current.name>

FEATURE

Purpose:
Unique template for highlighted features running for a limited time e.g. a profile of an individual, an upcoming event, etc content can vary normally accessed from homepage and can be changed more frequently than other templates.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has 2 image objects at the top of the page and optional 4th level navigation directly underneath. Underneath are a series of 3 linked image objects. The right hand column has a title image with the content text below. Within the text are five link objects for navigation text.

GAME HOLDER TEMPLATE

Purpose:
This page holds Flash and Java Applets of pre-determined sizes.

Description:
The page is split into four parts; three different varieties for flash objects and one applet object. These are all definable using 'Edit Extensions'.

GENERIC FORM

Purpose:
To enable users to process forms.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top. The right hand column has a title bar at the top with text underneath. Towards the bottom of the page, a form process is available with text below.

Important to note:
When processing forms the user must identify two fields by way of a text object:
         1. Email address of the recipient of the form
         2. Subject of the form for the purpose of this page

Purpose:
To enable users to build their own form and process them.

GETIS MARKET REPORT

Purpose:
This unique page allows content authors to create a GETIS reports for Country markets.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns, one of which is hidden in the ContentManager. The left column has a clickable fixed navigation, which does not need to be edited and also a template for the PDF Grabber integration.. The right hand side has a header and subheader which relate the the left-hand navigation. Below each subheader there is the ability to add text.

HISTORY TIMELINE

Purpose:
This page allows for display of British Council historical events each year within a given decade. A new page isused for each decade.

Description:
This template is split into two columns. The left column has an image object at the top of the page with the option to show both fourth level nav and up to 6 related links below. The right hand column has slots for up to 10 text objects (to be used to insert years). There is then space for introductory text. Underneath the introductory text are slots to display up to 10 headers (one per year) Under each of these headers there are slots to add up to 4 paragraphs of text each one with the option of an image. Purpose:
This page was the second homepage designed for the British Council web project.

NEWSFEED SEARCH

THIS TEMPLATE IS DECOMISSIONED AND WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW TEMPLATE

Purpose:
The Newsfeed search template allows the customer to search the Autonomy-powered newsfeeds.

Description:
The form creates the ability to search the Autonomy-powered newsfeeds. The webmaster is able to select the information resource databases that the customer is able to saearch through the 'Edit Extension' feature.

NEWSLETTER 0 :: MAILOUT

Purpose:
Each art form links through to its own news listings page from their main landing page. This template contains links to more content rich pages, including showcase templates, project pages, Global Events calendar and press pages. This page also contains a newsletter subscription form.

Important to note:
This template is primarily used by the Arts Group for their implementation of the Obtree newsletter delivery system.

We would advise all other departments and countries to use the NEWSLETTER-1-MAILOUT template.

NEWSLETTER 1 :: MAILOUT

Description:
Please create this page as a child of the palette colour you wish to use. You can also change the colour of the newsletter by moving the page to the appropriate part of the viewtree in the NEWSLETTERS folder in the Obtree CMS.

There is only one column which is smaller than the 770px wide British Council website pages.. The top logo and the bottom domain name logo will be created for you by the KIS East Asia (please see below) and the banner image can also be created for you by the same team.

There are six newsboxes which can be turned one or off. Two images slots of 235px width each on one row (this can be turned on/off). There is also a linked lozenge with the option to show up to 6 text slots with arrows.

This template can be used in conjunction with any newsletter delivery system. If you wish to use the IBD Newsletter system. Please contact kiseastasia@britishcouncil.org.au (IBD Manager, East Asia) for more details.

This is a unique template useful for those countries and departments that make use of the Obtree Newsletter functionality developed by KIS East Asia.

Enables webmaster to link their websites to the Obtree Newsletter system. This template is the first in a compliment of three.

NEWSLETTER  3 :: SUBSCRIBE

Purpose:
This is a unique template useful for those countries and departments that make use of the Constant Contact Newsletter functionality.

Description:
Enables webmaster to link their websites to the Constant Contact system.

Important to note:

Purpose:
This is a unique template useful for those countries and departments that make use of the Obtree Newsletter functionality developed by KIS East Asia.

Description:
Enables webmaster to link their websites to the Obtree Newsletter system. This template is the third of three. It must be placed beneath the SUBSCRIBE page and set to INVISIBLE. This template is the third in a compliment of three.

Purpose:
This is a unique template useful for those countries and departments that make use of the Obtree Newsletter functionality developed by KIS East Asia.

Please use this template for confirming subscriptions and unsubscriptions.

NEWSLETTER 6 :: ARCHIVE

Purpose:
This is a unique template useful for those countries and departments that make use of the Obtree Newsletter functionality developed by KIS East Asia and wish to dynamically show a list of all active newsletters.

Description:
On the left of the 'enews' logo you will notice that the page is divided into two sections. At the top you have the option to highlight up to six newsletters by creating internal links to the pages. The bottom of the section is a dynamic list of all pages which are prefixed by a key word as determined in the description field of the page object of the archive page that has been created.

ONLINE CATALOGUE

Purpose:
This is a unique template useful for those countries and departments that make use of the ALICE online catalogue.

Description:
Enables webmaster to link their websites to their ALICE system.

In order to use this template, you must be using the ALICE online catalogue system. Please contact web2004@britishcouncil.org for more details.

PHOTOGRAPHIC GALLERY

Purpose:
This unique page provides the option to have 12 large linkable images (width 230) or 8 large linkable images (width 230) and a poll, text space, 5th level navigation and related links.

Description:
This template is split into 3 columns. The first two columns contain 4 large images. The size of the images must be 230 pixels wide. The images can be linked by external or internal links. The third column is decided upon using 'Edit extensions'. The option is either another column containing four large linkable images of 230 pixels wide or a column containing a poll, text space, 5th level navigation and upto 6 related links. The 5th level navigation can also be turned off using Edit extensions..

POLL & ARTICLE

Purpose:
This is the page for the various polls and articles. There is also a popup 'question/answer' or 'FAQ' type module which must be used in conjunction with the Poll & Article PopUp Template.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top of the page. Underneath is the option to show the 5th level navigation and up to 6 related links below that. The bottom of this column contains the module for the straw poll. The right hand column starts with a title and sub bar at the top. Underneath there is the option of filling in 8 paragraphs with the possibility of aligning images to the left or right or having none. In between slots 4 and 5, there is an option to create a 'popup question box'. At the end of this column, you will find the option to create 10 FAQ-type 'expanding content'-type links. The bottom of the page has 6 optional linked title and content blocks.

POLL & ARTICLE POPUP

Purpose:
This is a unique template used for displaying the answers of questions posed on the Poll & Article Template.

Description:
This template consists of one picture (logo) and one text object (the answer).

Important to note:
Because this template is a pop-up window it differs slightly from the other templates. When creating an internal link to a poll & article popup template, the following must be added to the Attributes field in the properties of the internal link object:
         onClick="dynamicPagePopUp(this); return false;"
Additionally, the page must not be added to the viewtree, and the subtype must be set to #Popups.

POLL & ARTICLE (TOP FIVE)

Purpose:
This is the page for listing the top five results in various polls and articles.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an text objects at the top of the page. Underneath is the option to show the 5th level navigation and up to 6 related links below that. The bottom of this column contains the module for the results of the straw poll. The right hand column contains a box and imaged numeric list where you can provide a title, two line summary and a link to the relevant article. The article can use the POLL & ARTICLE template, but it is not compulsory.

POPUP :: FLASH

Purpose:
This is a unique template used for displaying flash files in popup windows.

Description:
This template consist of one flash slot.

Important to note:
Because this template is a pop-up window it differs slightly from the other templates. When creating an internal link to a flash popup template, the following must be added to the Attributes field in the properties of the internal link object:
         onClick="openFlashPopup(this, HEIGHT, WIDTH); return false;"
Change the values of HEIGHT and WIDTH according to the desired flash movie size. Additionally, the page must not be added to the viewtree, and the subtype must be set to #Popups.

POPUP :: MAP

Purpose:
This is a unique template used for displaying maps of the local British Council offices as well as displaying contact details and opening hours for teaching centres and libraries (if appropriate).

Description:
This template consist of one picture (map) and one text object (the details).

Important to note:
Because this template is a pop-up window it differs slightly from the other templates. When creating an internal link to a flash popup template, the following must be added to the Attributes field in the properties of the internal link object:
         onClick="dynamicPagePopUp(this); return false;"
Additionally, the page must not be added to the viewtree, and the subtype must be set to #Popups.

POPUP :: MESSAGE

Purpose:
This is a unique template used for displaying popup message on British Council homepages. This template can only be used in conjunction with the Homepage-2 template.

Description:
This template consist of text objects (title and text).

Important to note:
Because this template is a pop-up window it differs slightly from the other templates. When creating an internal link to a message popup template, you must action the following:

• In the 'edit extensions' of the Homepage-2 template, you must show 'showMessage' <show message popup page>.
• In edit mode of the page using the Homepage-2 template, you must insert the link, width and height (or leave as default) for the popup you have created with the 'Message popup' template'.
• Note: On the homepage-2 template page look for: "SHOW MESSAGE POPUP VALUES"

POPUP :: MOVIE

Purpose:
This template displays streaming movies, such as that created by our streaming media partner, StreamUK. It also provides an optional caption and description text area.

Description:
This template consist of one streaming object and one text object (the details).

Important to note:
Because this template is a pop-up window it differs slightly from the other templates. When creating an internal link to a movie popup template, the following must be added to the Attributes field in the properties of the internal link object:
         onClick="openPopup(this,'HEIGHT','WIDTH'); return false;"
Change the values of HEIGHT and WIDTH according to the desired window size.
Additionally, the page must not be added to the viewtree, and the subtype must be set to #Popups.

POPUP :: TEXT

Purpose:
This is a unique template used for displaying simple text in popup windows. However it can also be used to display java applets in a popup window.

Description:
This template consist of one text slot.

Important to note:
Because this template is a pop-up window it differs slightly from the other templates. When creating an internal link to a text popup template, the following must be added to the Attributes field in the properties of the internal link object:
         onClick="openTextPopup(this, HEIGHT, WIDTH); return false;"
Change the values of HEIGHT and WIDTH according to the desired text size. Additionally, the page must not be added to the viewtree, and the subtype must be set to #Popups.

This template can be used to display java applets in a popup window. Paste your applet code into a text object, set the subtype to APPLET and add it to the text slot.

PROJECT DETAIL

Purpose:
This template hosts project details per art form activity. It is more of a ‘record’ page and less ‘promotional’ than the showcasing/project template This template is also suitable for use as an alternative to the existing content templates.

RANKING 1 : CONTENT

Purpose:
Page to dynamically list and hyperlink the names and descriptions of all child pages. These pages have to be at the fourth level in the view tree in order for the child pages to show as links and the fifth level navigation must be made visible using edit extensions.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left-hand column is 250 pixels wide and starts with an image object in the top left corner of the template. The image size must be 250 pixels wide. Below the image is a text slot for the copyright notice of the image, up to 10 related links underneath that can be turned on or off using Edit Extensions. The right-hand column, which has an editable background colour, begins with a title and sub bar. In between two text slots appears the archive functionality; the name and description of all child pages is dynamically driven and hyperlinked.

RANKING 2 : SUBJECT

Purpose:
Page to dynamically list and hyperlink the names and descriptions of all child pages. These pages are most often used for fourth level hierarchy within the system and fifth level navigation is introduced here. There is also the ability to add drop-down option selection boxes.

Description:
This template is split into 3 columns. The left hand column has a testimonial lozenge with an angled link lozenge directly below. The centre column initially starts with a tile bar and the option show a banner ad below this. Underneath the banner is the rankable content dynamically generated from the viewtree with images, text and drop-down option selection boxes. The right hand column has the choice of up to 6 links with 4th level navigation directly below the first link.

Important to note:
In order to use this template, you must adhere to the following presumptions:

1. The subtype must be ‘ranking’ for the subject page and the child pages that you wish to appear as lozenges.
2. Once you have subtyped all the pages correctly, the metadata tab in the properties of the child page should now be visible. This is where you link to the image and text object that you want to appear on the subject page.
3. To link to the image (size 126x49) that you want to appear in the lozenge, you have to type the full name of the image in the ImageURL field within the metadata tab of the child page e.g. global-common-126x49-ents-snapshots-disk01-014-boy-in-green-t-shirt-computer.jpg
4. To add text to the lozenge you have to create a text object or link to one that is already in the database. Then you have to insert the name of the text object into the ‘TextObject’ field within the metadata tab in the properties box.

RANKING 3 : GENERIC LISTING

Purpose:
General listings with ability to link to more detailed content.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top of the page. Underneath is the option to show the testimonial lozenge with 4th level navigation and up to 6 related links below that. The right hand column, which has an editable background colour, starts with a title and sub bar at the top. Underneath this is bold text object with the possibility of  rankable content dynamically generated from the viewtree with text and links. The bottom of the page has optional next and previous links.

REGIONAL LOCATIONS

Purpose:
Opportunity for Each BC centre to promote their facilities opening times, local events with links to range English courses

Description:
This template is split into 3 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top of the page with 4th level navigation and up to 6 related links below that. The centre column, which has an editable background colour, starts with a title bar at the top. Underneath is the main content text with a series of 4 links below that. The bottom of the page contains opening times including email contact details. The right column provides the option to show up to 3 links with image objects.

SCHOLARSHIPS DETAIL

Purpose:
In-depth information about scholarships.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top with text below. Underneath is an angled lozenge link with the option to show up to 6 related links below. The right hand column has a title and sub bar at the top with text below. The bottom of the page has optional next and previous links.

SCHOLARSHIPS LISTING

Purpose:
List scholarships.

Selector Weekly Sessions

Purpose:
Weekly Selector sessions template, with option links to past sessions.

SHOWCASE 1

Purpose:
Showcase templates are used to show customers what Arts are doing through real examples

Description:
This content-heavy template is designed for pages with lots of information. If this is used as a project page the fifth-level navigation and next and back buttons at the top of pages need to be switched on.

SHOWCASE 2

Purpose:
This showcase template hosts video and audio content and has room for explanatory copy.

Description:
If this is used as a project page the fourth-level navigation and next and back buttons at the top of pages need to be switched on.

SHOWCASE 3

Purpose:
This equal text and static imagery based template is suitable for exhibitions or any other projects with lots of imagery.

Description:
Showcase templates and projects - Although this template is described as a showcase template it can also be used as a project template. When this is the case the fifth level navigation and next and back buttons at the top and bottom of the pages need to be switched on.

SHOWCASE 4

Purpose:
This template is a suitable template for promoting products and resources for the Information Sector.

Description:
The template is split into various sections. Principally at the top there is space for an image and an introduction to the page with various links. On the right of this there is a login screen for the Athens Management System. Below this there are three rows of linkable text with the third row containing a dropdown resource list.

TESTIMONIAL LANDING

Purpose:
To organise the list of testimonials and profiles. From this page you can link through to individual detail pages.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns. The left hand column has an image object at the top. Underneath is the title text with 5th level navigation and related links below that. The right hand column, starts with a title bar at the top of the page with bold text below. Underneath is some content text with the list of child pages appearing dynamically below.

Important to note:
When this page is placed on the 6th level, it will also show the link and description of the child pages of the 5th level.

TEXT ONLY

Purpose:
This unique page allows content authors to create a text only page. If required, an image can be slotted into the left hand side.

Description:
This template is split into 2 columns, one of which is optional. The left column has an image slot, which does not need to be filled. The right hand side has a title bar, a text area, and the option to display six related links below.

VIRTUAL TOUR

Purpose:
This template is developed for the purposes of creating a Virtual Tour of the UK.

Description:
The template is split into various sections which are determined by the imagemap of the UK. All sections of content are editable within this template if you have the respective rights.
