CREATING DEPUTIES
Deputies are webmasters, authors or managers

A deputy is a username created in Obtree to provide access to the Content Manager function.  You create deputies to give particular users (deputies) permission to carry out tasks within Obtree.

We have three different types of deputies:

webmasters: have overall control on the site and access to create, edit and delete all objects (except Global objects) and do not have to work in workflow - unless approving authors work.
authors: authors can create and edit objects providing they are working in workflow, authors only have access to objects in a specific group (e.g. an arts author can only edit/create arts objects)
managers: used in workflow, managers approve author's work in a specific group.

The basics for creating deputies are:

1. You need to log in to Obtree with the master username and password for your country/department or your personal username and password in order to create deputies.

2. The naming convention used is:

country.webmaster.name italy.webmaster.maury
country.group.name.author italy.arts.suzanne.author
country.group.name.author italy.arts.natasha.manager

3. The deputy created inherits the privileges of the user you are logged in as when you create the deputy. For example if you log in with the master username and password for italy webmaster you can only create deputy italian webmasters not any other type of user.

4. Always remember: keep user names and passwords secure, do not share them with other people.  If you have lost your master usernames and password please contact your IBD Manager.
