Information about IAESTE work experience placements abroad

Much has been made of the need for students to gain relevant work experience before they graduate. IAESTE not only provides internship experience but also the valuable experience of working abroad.

Work experience gained abroad enhances your independence and flexibility, communication and foreign language skills, and contributes to your personal and academic development. Employers know that if students have successfully overcome the challenges brought on by international work experience, they will stand out from the crowd at interview.

IAESTE is open to science, engineering, technology and applied arts undergraduate students in the second year of study and above. The majority of these placements are for 6 to 12 weeks in the summer months, although longer periods are occasionally available.

Come along to an IAESTE Local Student Committee Meeting

The Local Committee (LC) is a group of enthusiastic students from universities in your area who:

  • promote the IAESTE programme to other students within those universities
  • raise UK work placements for incoming trainees from around the world
  • arrange an exciting summer social programme for, and welcome, international trainees who come to your Local Committee area on placements

Get in touch with your local committee and come along to one of their regular meetings to find out more.

And if you still want to know more, read about the experiences of some of our IAESTE alumni in Case Studies.
