The Whole School

As well as opportunities for individual teachers and pupils, we also offer the chance for schools in the widest sense to be involved in the international dimension.

By engaging in a link with an overseas partner school, there are a whole host of activities that schools can plan and carry out to involve as many of their staff and pupils as possible in the international dimension.

It is this factor of widening participation that contributes to an international link becoming embedded in the life of a school, having maximum impact, and becoming a sustainable partnership that lasts well into the future. Internationalism in the curriculum is something that should be supported by the whole school, rather than just individual teachers. Partnerships that start in a burst of enthusiasm can dwindle without whole school support.

Attempting to involve the whole school in the international dimension need not be as overwhelming as it first might seem. The day-to-day curriculum taught across a range of subject areas can be enhanced and enriched by adding an international flavour to it.
