Every year, at the end of August, the area of West London called Notting Hill hosts one of the biggest street carnival celebrations in Europe, if not in the world.  The Notting Hill Carnival started out as a local affair but now attracts hundreds of thousands of people, which is not appreciated by all the local residents.
