Recruitment for partnerships with different regions of the world

Central South Asia: Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan

Connecting Classrooms recruited for partnerships with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan in March 2009 and 26 partnerships have been established involving 40 UK schools.

China and Hong Kong

We recruited new schools and local authorities/federations of schools to work with partners in China in 2010.

East Asia: Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

We created 21 partnerships between districts and groups of schools in the UK and their counterparts in East Asia in 2008-09 and have focused on consolidating these groups in the last few years.

Europe and neighbouring regions: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine

We recruited UK schools and local authorities/federations to form four-way partnerships with countries across this region in 2010. The next opportunity to apply to form a link with this region will be in 2011 and we will update this website when more information is available.

India and Sri Lanka

We recruited more UK schools and local authorities/federations of schools to work with partners in this region in 2010.

Latin America and the Caribbean: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela (and formerly Cuba, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago)

We established new partnerships between UK schools and local authorities and their counterparts in these countries in 2009 and 2010. We are now recruiting more UK schools to work with partners in Colombia and Venezuela. See 'How to get involved' for more information.

Middle East: Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen

We recruited clusters of UK schools and their local authorities to link with schools and districts throughout the Middle East in 2009 and 2010. We are now recruiting more UK schools to work with partners in Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. See 'How to get involved' for more information.

Near East and North Africa: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia

We recruited groups of UK primary and secondary schools and their local authorities to link with schools and districts in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Syria and Tunisia in August 2009. We also worked with a number of other UK schools and local authorities in 2009 to build on their established links with partners in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Palestine. Further UK schools and their local authorities/federations joined the programme earlier in 2010. We are now recruiting more UK schools to work with partners in Jordan and Lebanon. Sub-Saharan Africa: Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe

We recruited more schools and local authorities/federations of schools to work with partners in Sub-Saharan Africa in January 2010 and are currently focusing on consolidating these partnerships.
