The Postgraduate Medical Education Sponsorship scheme has been closed permanently since 24 December 2004 to new applicants.
The Home Office and Department of Health have recently announced that overseas doctors (Non European Economic Area [EEA]) seeking training posts in the UK will from July 2006 require a work permit.
