REGISTER FOR OUR GENERAL ENGLISH COURSES

This new academic year, improve your English at the British Council

We offer English courses at all levels, from Elementary to Advanced, to help you improve your English language and communication skills. Our courses give you a solid foundation in English and will help you:

develop your skills in varied classroom activities and practise integrating the four language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing – using a variety of classroom activities and up-to-date authentic material
improve your grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation with useful language acquisition techniques
practise your oral fluency and speaking in English through pair and group work, with your teacher monitoring your performance
reflect on your progress through assessed tasks and individual counselling sessions

Our communicative approach encourages all students to take an active part in all lessons. The courses build on each other, so you can start at the level suited to your ability and work your way up.

These courses are designed for adults who wish to improve their English for general communicative purposes.

Please note that this course can only be attended by students above the age of 16. Students aged 16 or 17 must get a parental permission to join our courses. The parental consent form can be downloaded from HERE.

ABOUT THESE COURSES

These courses are offered at Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate and advanced level. Each level consists of five modules, each of which lasts 7 weeks (28 class hours) with lessons twice per week (2x1,5 hours).

CONTENT

Each course has a set of can do statements which are aligned to the globally recognised Common European Framework (CEF). The statements tell you what you should be able to do in English by the end of each course, and the alignment to the CEF allows you to compare your level of English to other people across the globe.

During the courses you will develop your speaking, listening, reading, and writing, in addition to increasing the range and accuracy of your vocabulary and grammar. There is a strong emphasis on speaking, with plentiful opportunities for you to practise speaking on realistic topics and situations. Listening and reading material is integrated in a number of different ways to develop your skills. Your writing skills will be developed through regular writing sections and tasks.

There will be work on your pronunciation throughout the course and also the development of learning skills to enable you to become a better, more independent student.
