Cambridge ESOL exams

From 2010 all University of Cambridge ESOL main suite exams will be available in computer based format. With this innovation we would like to fulfil the developing information technology demand. Some of the advantages of the computer based examination compared to the paper-based examination are the larger number of exam dates, more flexible administration and faster results.

Difference will only be in the appearance of the exam, neither in the content nor in the level. The software offers easy to use interface and an exciting way of examination. The speaking part of the exam will not be changed, it is still the two examiners two examinees format. The listening part will be taken with separate earphones at the computer.

The computer based examinations contribute to the British Council's carbon footprint minimising project. The exam materials are not being transported from and to Cambridge, the process involves very low amount of paper usage, the computers used for the exam and for the administration are both low energy consuming machines.
