We work with Hungarian and British partners to present British learning and creativity. We promote UK education, English language and cultural exchange. We work both for individuals and for the mutual benefit of the UK and Hungary. Our approach is non-political; we present an honest picture of the UK.
We work with ministries, professional associations, universities, schools and NGOs. Together with our partners stimulate cultural dialogue and understanding. Many of our projects involve Hungarians collaborating with UK contemporaries, with results that are exciting both for Hungary and for international understanding.
The British Council is registered as a charity in the UK. (We are like a Hungarian NGO). We receive a grant from the British government and earn income from teaching. The British Council has 7,500 staff in offices, teaching centres, libraries and information and resource centres in 233 towns and cities in 109 countries and territories worldwide.
