What is TSA (Oxford) and ELAT?

Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) is a 2 hours pen and paper test.  

The TSA (University of Oxford) is a pre-interview admissions test for applicants to undergraduate courses in PPE, E&M, EP and PPP at the University of Oxford.  

English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT) is a 90-minute pen and paper test.  

The ELAT is a pre-interview admissions test for applicants to undergraduate courses in English at the University of Oxford. The test is designed to enable applicants to show their ability in the key skill of close reading, paying attention to such elements as the language, imagery, allusion, syntax, form and structure of the passages set for comment.

When can I take the TSA (Oxford) or ELAT?

TSA (Oxford) & ELAT Test Date:  4 November 2009

TSA (Oxford) Test Time:2.30 pm - 4.30 pm (HK Time)

ELAT Test Time: 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm (HK Time)

How much is the examination fee?

Examination fee: $1,220 per paper

How can I register?

Please return your completed ELAT / TSA (Oxford) Registration Form with a copy of your HKID/ Passport:

1) In-person – Customer Services, 3/F, British Council, 3 Supreme Court Road, Admiralty, Hong Kong. You can pay by credit card, EPS or cheque made payable to “British Council”.  We regret that we cannot accept cash at the Customer Services Centre.

2) By Post – Please send the above documents together with a cheque made payable to “British Council” or pay by credit card (please see Information for Candidates) to:

When is the deadline for ELAT or TSA (Oxford) registration?

Registration Period: 26 June 2009 - 15 October 2009 (12.00 noon HK Time)

When will I get the TSA Oxford / ELAT results?

Results will be released on 15 January 2010.  Results cannot be queried.

Please note: TSA Oxford / ELAT results will only be released to candidates who have applied to one of the courses requiring TSA Oxford / ELAT at the University of Oxford.

How can I prepare for the TSA (Oxford) or ELAT?
