A good mastery of the English language in Hong Kong is crucial for academic and career success. Our wide range of courses is available for all age groups, ranging from Kindergarten English courses to General English for adults, and aim to make you feel confident when using English. Starting from September, we are also launching a new course that complements the New Senior Secondary (NSS) English curriculum, helping Form 3 and 4 students to tackle the new syllabus.

Our courses are available in our centres in Admiralty, Yau Ma Tei, Shatin and Kwai Hing. Registration for some courses will open on 2 July, although different courses have different registration dates.  Find more information from our website: www.britishcouncil.org.hk/english.

U-CAN – Community and Arts Network for Youths
Registration starts from 8 July 2009

U-CAN–Community and Arts Network for Youths–is a new initiative from the British Council in Hong Kong to connect young people interested in the arts and engage them in mind-opening arts and creative learning activities.  At the same time, U-CAN encourages members to give back to society by volunteering for arts and community events organised by partnering organisations of the British Council.

Young people aged 18 to 25 are being recruited to join U-CAN.  An architecture tour will kick off the scheme in September 2009, followed by a talk by well-known illustrators, a ceramic workshop and more.  One of the U-CAN members will also be chosen and have the opportunity to join a cultural tour in summer 2010 in the UK arranged by the British Council.  Recruitment starts on 8 July and spaces are limited, so act now to join U-CAN.

U-CAN is sponsored by the Friends of British Council.

The British Council is participating this year in the Hong Kong Book Fair, the world's biggest book fair, with an appearance at booth 3G29-08.  To make learning English fun for children, we are partnering with the BBC's Cbeebies to invite one of its most popular characters, Roly Mo, to showcase at the book fair.  Roly Mo will appear with a storyteller live on stage, meet children and parents at the booth and be available for photograph sessions.  The British Council is hosting a series of workshops to help parents support young children to learn English through storybooks.
