- understand instructions addressed carefully and slowly
Writing

- recognise familiar names, words and very basic phrases on simple notices
Course Content
The course book is New English File Intermediate coursebook and workbook for HKC2 and Cutting Edge Advanced Student's Book and Workbook for HKC3. In the first and second terms, your child will focus on improving their all-round language skills and usage by taking the Form 5 Language Boosting Course.
As HKC students of the British Council, your child will have free access to the Multi-Media Study Centre (MMSC) our self-study facility on the 3rd floor of our centre in Admiralty. The MMSC contains a wide variety of materials, including CD-ROMs, videos, audiotapes and books.
Demonstrating Progress
Your child's progress is measured by continuous assessment. During the course the class teacher will set speaking, writing, reading and listening tasks in class.
Provided that your child has attended at least 75% of their classes, they will receive a report on their progress; and the areas they need to improve, and a certificate at the end of the course.
Placement test and counselling To register for your first British Council course a placement test is required to assess your child’s current level of English. A course counsellor will then help select the course most suited to their English level.

Working in Partnership
We understand that you want to be involved in and support your child's learning. To this end we have created an outline of the roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the learning process.
