WHO ARE THE BRITISH COUNCIL?
Find out more at About Us.

WHAT IS THE TEACHER DEVELOPMENT UNIT?
We aim to provide high-quality training events to support local schools and teachers. In addition to offering workshops on behalf of the EDB and courses certified by the University of Cambridge, we provide tailor-made courses and workshops for individual schools or groups of teachers.

WHO ARE OUR TRAINERS?
Our trainers have many years of international experience as teachers and teacher trainers. Our team includes published authors as well as tutors for Cambridge University courses such as CELTYL or DELTA.

DO THE BRITISH COUNCIL PROVIDE TAILOR-MADE TRAINING WORKSHOPS?
We offer workshops to support common needs of local schools and teachers but can offer all kinds of training events.

HOW LONG ARE TRAINING SESSIONS?
We typically offer one day 6-hour training workshops but these can often be delivered over two days. It is possible to plan a series of workshops or a longer course.

HOW MUCH DOES THE TEACHER DEVELOPMENT UNIT CHARGE?
The cost of a workshop will depend on factors including development time, the venue and the length of programme. After your enquiry we will clarify your requirements and make an initial quotation.

DO WE HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR MATERIALS?
For standard workshops we include materials within the fee. We may charge for the adaptation or creation of material and copyright is also a consideration.

CAN WE HOLD TRAINING AT THE BRITISH COUNCIL ADMIRALTY?
If you do not have a suitable venue we may be able to hold your training event at our centre in Admiralty. This depends on the time of day and the amount of notice given.

HOW MANY PARTICIPANTS CAN ATTEND A WORKSHOP?
For workshops we typically accommodate up to 30 participants.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ORGANISE A TRAINING EVENT?
We usually require a minimum of nine weeks. However, this will depend on the amount of adaptation or development required. We will contact you after receiving your enquiry form to discuss mutually convenient dates and times.

DO COURSE PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OR REPORT?
We provide a British Council continuing professional development certificate stating the number of hours you have attended.
