About This Course
Develop your ability to write an academic essay and communicate your ideas more effectively.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, learners will be better able to:
- Brainstorm, organise ideas for and effectively plan an academic essay
- Understand the writing process from initial planning to editing
- Understand the concept of critical thinking
- Write an effective and concise introduction
- Compose paragraphs, with topic and supporting sentences
- Write an effective conclusion
- Use connectives and linking phrases effectively
- Understand the concept of plagiarism and take steps to avoid it through effective referencing
