This student read a poem from an anthology in class about a nasty monster. We studied the poem, looking at how the poem used language to convey how horrible the monster is. We also used a thesaurus to try to find a wider range of vocabulary items for ‘nasty’. Then for homework, he produced this excellent poem. He shows a real story-telling flair, and a good awareness of rhyme and meter. Very nice work indeed.
