Do you have a high standard of English and want to maintain it? Do you enjoy talking about global issues? If yes, then why not join a Social English class.
- You will have opportunities to undertake fact-finding, engage in role-plays, discussions and vocabulary-expanding activities.
- These tasks will involve listening texts and readings taken from up-to-date BBC news sources, as well as documentary programmes from radio and television, newspapers, magazines and online publications.
- As the materials focus on current topical themes from the media, your teacher will tailor the lessons for your particular class.
- The approach is learner-centred in order to help you to become a more effective and independent learner.
The course focuses on developing understanding and language skills through discussing current news items from various UK-based news media and the use of authentic video, audio and written texts.
There is currently no formal assessment for this course. However, 75 per cent attendance is required in order to achieve the Certificate of Attendance.
To register for your first British Council adult course you will need to take a placement test to assess your current level of English. A course counsellor will then help you select the course most suited to your needs and English level.
