Four Week Intensive - Secondary 7
English course for secondary school students (PUE)

This course is for secondary school students who are currently studying in secondary 7 and it prepares students for the HKALE, ‘A’-level Use of English examination in 2012.

This is a four-week intensive revision course in the February term. On this course students will fine-tune their exam strategy skills to get the very best results. Further timed exam tasks will be practised and marked with key areas identified for personalised feedback and support.

Course Content

On the course, students will:

  • practise a wide range of topic areas across the exam papers
  • analyse different tasks and exemplar answers including examples of speaking tasks
  • practise applying task attack strategies across the papers
  • develop your language skills across different topic areas and exam text-types.

Course Aims

The course will:

  • provide students with intensive task practice across the papers
  • develop your level of confidence to approach all exam tasks
  • give students more exposure to the vocabulary and language patterns that occur across a range of current topic areas and text-types relevant for the exam.

Demonstrating Progress

We regularly evaluate students’ progress through continuous assessment.  Each seventeen-week semester features two assessed activities and after each assessment your child will reflect on how they performed. At the end of each semester, the teacher will discuss your child’s work with them one to one and will comment on their self assessment record that is kept in their folder for you to see.

A report is sent home on your child's progress at the end of each semester if they have attended 75% of classes. Our observations on learning progress and strengths during assessments help inform our comments as well as the grades we award for reading, writing, listening, speaking and effort/participation.

Working in Partnership

We understand that you want to be involved in and support your child’s learning. To this end we have created an outline of  the Download PDF Document roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the learning process.

SEN (Specific Educational Needs)

We are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment in which children are supported to achieve their potential in a spirit of inclusion and acceptance. We value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils and recognise that parents hold key information and knowledge of their child.

If your child has a specific educational (or medical) need, please share this knowledge before registration.

Placement test and counselling

A placement test will be required for new students before registration in order to determine their English level. A course counsellor will then help select the course most suited to their English level. Test results are valid for six months.
