English courses for kindergarten students

This course is designed for young children who are attending Kindergarten 3 in a Hong Kong kindergarten.

This course is based around story sacks which contain a story book along with craft ideas, puppets, games and activities related to the story and which reflect best early years practice from the UK. The stories introduce different topics and focused language which are practised through songs and rhymes and structured activities aimed at making books fun, bringing stories to life and keeping your child stimulated, challenged and motivated to learn.

Course Content

This course:

  • develops the child through holistic opportunities
  • builds and consolidates language skills through stories, songs and focused activities
  • encourages children to develop their writing and reading skills
  • provides opportunities for drama to recreate the stories
  • includes an end of course performance for parents.

Course Aims

Our course aims to provide:

  • increased confidence and enjoyment in using English
  • all-round holistic development of communication, language and literacy skills
  • development of language skills
  • a foundation for moving from kindergarten to primary school.

Demonstrating Progress

Your child's progress is measured by continuous assessment and this takes place naturally and informally within class throughout the semester.

At the end of each semester, your child will receive a report if they have attended 75% of the classes. The report assessments cover three areas of development:

  • spoken language
  • listening skills
  • interaction with adults and peers.

Working in Partnership

We understand that you want to be involved in and support your child’s learning. To this end we have created an outline of the Download PDF Document roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the learning process.

We have various means of keeping in touch with the parents of our students to ensure you are well informed about the centre and your child’s progress in class, these include:

  • parent events and informal chats
  • one-to-one parent-teacher meetings
  • class visits
  • workshops
  • report cards
  • newsletters
  • parent information sessions
  • e-mail and telephone e.g. If your child misses a class
  • our website and Facebook page.

SEN (Specific Educational Needs)

We are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment in which children are supported to achieve their potential in a spirit of inclusion and acceptance. We value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils and recognise that parents hold key information and knowledge of their child.

If your child has a specific educational (or medical) need, please share this knowledge before registration.
