The courses will be run in February and March 2012 before the DSE English Language paper runs for the first time at the end of March 2012. Students can select one or more of the following modules depending on which area or areas they have been advised to focus on or those they wish to develop.

Module 1 Reading
Module 2 Writing
Module 3 Listening and Integrated Skills
Module 4 Speaking

Course Content

Designed specifically so that students get the essential support and practice across the papers to help them do their best in the exam, the intensive suite offers:

  • analysis of tasks and text-types with key strategies to be aware of when approaching tasks
  • supported guidance to clarify question types and tactics
  • well-crafted example answers for Papers 1-3 and group discussion patterns for Paper 4
  • practice and feedback on each task that appears on the paper.

Course Aims

The courses will help students gain:

  • familiarisation with tasks and text-types as well as practice and feedback to help them build their confidence just in time for the exam
  • experience of guided practice and reflection, with timed practice, language input and support for a range of topic areas.

Working in Partnership

We understand that you want to be involved in and support your child’s learning. To this end we have created an outline of  the Download PDF Document roles and responsibilities of all those involved in the learning process.

SEN (Specific Educational Needs)

We are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment in which children are supported to achieve their potential in a spirit of inclusion and acceptance. We value the abilities and achievements of all our pupils and recognise that parents hold key information and knowledge of their child.

If your child has a specific educational (or medical) need, please share this knowledge before registration.

Placement test and counselling

A placement test will be required for new students before registration in order to determine their English level. A course counsellor will then help select the course most suited to their English level. Test results are valid for six months.
