Payment Terms

Payment Methods

Payment for courses can be made by VISA, Master Card, American Express, Diners Club, EPS or by cheque made payable to 'British Council'.

If you are enrolling on adult or Secondary English courses for a semester (54 hours), you can pay by HSBC*, Hang Seng Bank, Citibank or DBS credit cards to enjoy a 6-month interest free instalment plan.

*Only HSBC Visa and MasterCard card holders (including co-branded/affinity card holders) are eligible for the offer.   HSBC Company Card, Corporate Card, JCB Card, SuperEase Card, HSBC Macau MOP Card and HSBC US Dollar Gold Card are excluded.

Refunds

1.In case of the cancellation of a course, you will receive a full refund.  You must keep the original receipt in order to obtain this refund.  When processing a refund, we will ask you to provide us with your bank account information by completing a refund form.  We will then transfer the monies into your bank account within one month.  A refund may also be made in cash or in cheque if necessary.

2.If a course is cancelled and you have purchased a course book from the British Council Shop, you can obtain a full refund by returning the book to the shop within 14 days of the start of the course.  Please note you must have the original receipt in order to obtain a refund.  The book must also be unmarked and in an undamaged condition.

3.If a course cannot be run on the date or at the time specified in the timetable and you decline the revised arrangements, we shall refund in full within one month of your   course fee refund request.

4.Classes cancelled due to bad weather or teacher sickness will be made up.  If the make up classes cannot be run on the date or at the time specified in the timetable and you decline the revised arrangements, we shall refund on a pro-rata basis the course fees within one month of your course fee refund request.

Liability

The British Council shall not be liable to any party in respect of the following:

  1. for any loss or damage to your property or any property in your possession in the course of engaging with the British Council or participating in courses as arranged by the British Council.
  2. for death, or any injury or incapacity (except as may be required by law)
