SECONDARY AND ADULT COURSES

STEP 1: PLACEMENT TEST AND COURSE COUNSELLING

Secondary courses

All secondary students need to show proof of their class at school.

Form 1 – 5 students have to take a placement test in order to place them in a class according to both their age and ability. The placement test takes around 40 minutes to complete. We will then use the test results to help students find an appropriate class.

Form 6 & 7 students are placed into a class according to their ages.

Adult courses

To register for your first British Council course you will take a placement test to assess your current level of English. A course counsellor will then help you select the course most suited to your needs and English level. This takes around 60 minutes.

If your language competency is stronger than our level 8, we will not be able to place you in a suitable class.

STEP 2: REGISTRATION

You may register for a course immediately after course counselling or at a later date, depending on class availability.

The placement test result will be valid for 6 months from the date of the test.

Eligibility to studying in Hong Kong

You must present your HKID card or other valid documentation showing your eligibility to studying in HK upon registration. If you do not have a HKID card or other documentation, please contact the Immigration Department for more details about studying in Hong Kong.
