About This Course

Activates and extends your knowledge of English grammar while developing your speaking, writing, listening and reading skills.

Course Objectives

You will work towards the following learning outcomes:

  • ask and answer questions
  • describe people and pictures
  • tell a short story
  • talk about future plans and intentions
  • describe experience and recent actions
  • make comparisons
  • revise and extend your knowledge of various verb tenses, modal verbs and sentence patterns
  • develop your ability to use them communicatively in both spoken and written contexts

Covering the following grammar points:

  • Question formation
  • Present Simple and Continuous
  • Past Simple and Continuous
  • Going to and Will
  • Present Perfect
  • Past Simple and Present Perfect
  • Comparatives and superlatives
  • Verbs plus infinitive or -ing
  • Modals of Obligation
  • 1st and 2nd conditionals
  • Modals of possibility (may, might)
  • Should
  • Used to
  • The Passive Voice
  • Past Perfect

Course Content

The course book is New English File Pre-Intermediate. Your teacher will select the most relevant material from the book and supplement it to make lessons relevant and stimulating.

Demonstrating Progress

Your teacher monitors your progress with a speaking and writing task during the course as well as a grammar test at the end, in which you need to achieve at least 65%.

You receive an attendance certificate when you have completed your first term, and a report when you have completed both Term A and Term B as well as a course completion certificate if you attend at least 75% of lessons and complete assessments successfully.
