About This Course

You will learn skills and knowledge to help you communicate effectively in writing at work.

Course Objectives

Through writing texts such as letters, e-mails, reports you will develop the following language and skills:

  • plan and organise to produce purposeful writing which follows layout and paragraphing conventions
  • edit your writing for grammatical correctness and word choice
  • proof-read to ensure accuracy
  • choose appropriate tone and register
  • use common expressions for various business situations
  • write concise, clear sentences and paragraphs
  • make and respond to enquiries
  • make arrangements
  • negotiate politely and diplomatically
  • make job applications

Course Content

The course book is Email English (Macmillan).Your teacher will select the most relevant material from the book and supplement it to make lessons relevant and stimulating.

Demonstrating Progress

You will take assessment tasks to evaluate your progress towards the learning objectives. Your teacher will also counsel you on your progress throughout the course.

You receive an attendance certificate when you have completed your first term, and a report when you have completed both Term A and Term B as well as a course completion certificate if you attend at least 75% of lessons and complete assessments successfully.
