About This Course
This course consists of two semesters (GE2A and GE2B). It will help you develop your overall ability to speak, listen, read and write about everyday topics.
Course Objectives
You will work towards the following learning outcomes:
Speaking
- make an introductions
- describe yourself, what you do and where you live
- ask for things and give people things
- reply to simple questions
Writing
- write simple sentences about yourself
- complete a form with information such as numbers, dates and nationality
Listening
- understand instructions spoken carefully and slowly
- follow slow speech with long pauses
Reading
- recognise familiar names, words and basic phrases on simple notices
- understand short, simple texts, postcards and written directions
Course Content
The course book is New Headway Beginner. Your teacher will select the most relevant material from the book and supplement it to make lessons relevant and stimulating.
Demonstrating Progress
Assessment and Counselling During the course your teacher will set speaking and writing tasks in class and advise you on your progress. Near the end of the course there will be a progress test, in which you need to achieve at least 65%.
End of semester report and certificate At the end of each semester you will receive a report on your progress, areas for improvement and advice for future studies. You will receive a certificate at the end of GE2B if you have attended at least 75% of the classes and satisfactorily completed all relevant assessments.
