About ELT Network

Why join the ELT Network?

The ELT Network is designed to support your continuing professional development and to encourage networking between English language teachers throughout Hong Kong. We launched the Network in November 2003 and since then the number of people joining the Network has continued to increase and our workshops are always well-attended by local teachers wishing to learn something new, share their ideas and experiences and network with fellow HK teachers. Attendance at the workshops is restricted to ELT Network members, but joining is easy and free and upon becoming a member you will receive a membership card which allows you to sign up for our bi-monthly workshops, gives you access to the British Council's Multi-Media Study Centre as well as giving you priority invitation to ELT events.

Our workshops are held every two months, each one focusing on a different aspect of teaching methodology (workshops have included Approaches to Autonomous Learning, Literacy and Young Learners and ICT and your Classroom). The workshops give teachers the opportunity to meet with colleagues from different schools in Hong Kong to establish links and contacts, thus creating or extending already existing professional networks. Our website supports this network of local teaching professionals, and advertises coming workshops. The website, which has a new theme each month so is worth visiting regularly, also has the following features:

monthly lesson plans, for both primary and secondary school classes, on the theme of the month and articles about teaching and learning
reviews of useful websites and other resources
interviews with teachers and others involved in education in Hong Kong and elsewhere
weekly resources to help you teach pronunciation and literature in ELT

If you want to benefit from this professional network and attend our future workshops, join the ELT Network now.
