The Chevening Postgraduate Scholarships are for one-year taught courses leading to a Master's qualification.
These are full scholarships covering tuition fees up to £14,000, flights to and from the UK and a contribution toward living costs. The awards are tenable at any accredited UK university, college or tertiary education institution. If successful, you will be responsible for securing your own place on a course.
Our 2010-11 scheme includes a number of awards co-funded by local and international sponsors:
- One Aberdeen Scott Chevening Scholarship for a master degree in environmental related courses (under Environment, Geography and Environment, and Biological Sciences areas ) at the University of Aberdeen
- Cambridge Overseas Trust Chevening Scholarships for a one-year taught Master’s course in any subject at the University of Cambridge
- Up to three HSBC Chevening Scholarships for Hong Kong Permanent Residents to study a one-year taught Master's course in any sustainability related disciplines at selected universities.
- Hutchison Chevening Scholarships for a one-year taught Master's course
- Hutchison Whampoa Cambridge Chevening Scholarship for a one-year taught Master’s course at the University of Cambridge
- Sir S K Tang Chevening Scholarship for a Hong Kong Permanent resident to study a one-year taught Master’s course at any UK university
- One Sir S Y Chung University of Sheffield Chevening Scholarship for a one-year taught Master’s course in any subject at the University of Sheffield
- Up to two TAL Middlesex University Chevening Scholarships for a one-year taught Master's course in Art and Design at the Middlesex University
The application procedure for sponsored awards is the same as that for the British Chevening Postgraduate scholarships. Simply indicate your preference on the eChevening application form. If your application for a sponsored award is unsuccessful, you will still be considered for the regular British Chevening Postgraduate Scholarships.
Eligibility for Postgraduate Scholarships
Applicants MUST be:
1. Permanent residents of Hong Kong (SAR) or Macao.
2. Not currently working or studying in the UK.
3. Not in receipt of any other scholarship or award for the academic year 2010 - 2011.
4. Applicants must have applied already for a one-year Master's degree course at a UK institution.
5. Scholars are expected to hold a good honours degree in a related subject and have good written and spoken English. Scholars are expected to achieve a score of 6.5 or above in the IELTS language proficiency test, with no individual mark less than 6.5.
Shortlisted applicants who have not taken the IELTS test in the past two years are required to sit the test. If you have recently taken this test, please enclose a copy of your test results with other requested supporting documents after submitted eChevening application. Holders of other English Language proficiency certificates, including TOEFL are not exempted.
