Welcome-Home Reception for 2003/04 Chevening scholars

25 November 2004 is a day to remember for those scholars who have returned home after the completion of their master’s degree at various renowned universities in the UK during the past year. In that evening, a Welcome-Home Reception was hosted by the British Consulate-General to congratulate their brilliant success.

Mr Stephen Bradley, the Consul-General of the British Consulate-General inspired the attendees with his welcoming speech, and the lovely evening was followed by the presentation of certificates to the scholars.

The occasion was enlivened by the presence of the Chevening Scholarship Board of Advisors as our guests of honour, and they are: Ms Ruth Gee, Director of British Council; Mr Irving Koo, Managing Director of Trion Pacific Ltd; Mr George Magnus, Deputy Chairman of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd; Mr David Tang, Chairman of DWC Tang Development Ltd; Ms Irene Young, Principal Assistant Secretary for Education and Manpower HKSAR Government and Mr Charles Chau, President of British Chevening Scholars Association.

The scholars and guests had great fun exchanging ideas and sharing both their work and study experience. Everyone who attended felt that the atmosphere was warm and encouraging. We all look forward to meeting again in the next event to come!
