British Council Hong Kong
Learning Applied Forum 2009 Summary
Learning Applied Forum 2009
A Forum on Skills for Employability in the Context of Education Reform

Equipping young people with the skills they need for successful employment is one of the key challenges for educators today, and is central to education reforms in both Hong Kong and the UK.

The British Council, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Education Bureau and TVET UK / UKTI, is organising a two-day forum on this issue, for policy-makers, educators and employers from the two communities to share experiences in meeting the changing needs of young people and the wider society. It will look at the rationale for embracing Applied Learning as part of education reforms and how schools, colleges and employers can work closely together in delivering advanced learning and real work experience.

Day One will comprise of a conference plenary and breakout sessions from distinguished policy influencers and expert practitioners from both the education and employment sector. They will present on how the skills agenda has been approached in the context of education reform and the future workplace.

Day Two is fully booked. If you wish to register, we will place you on the waiting list. Day Two offers a small delegation visits to the VTC, The Mission Covenant Church Holm Glad College and Cyberport to gain insights as to how the Skills agenda has been addressed in practice.  Coach transport is provided for these site visits.

NOTE: This is a free programme except for lunch on day two.
