International Networking for Young Scientists
Post event information - February 2006

The International Networking for Young Scientists (INYS) 2006, jointly organised with The University of Hong Kong, was held on 16 to 18 January. This project aims to bring young UK and HK scientists together to facilitate the exchange of ideas and expertise on Building Energy Efficiency Research.

A group of nine post-doctorates from the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development, De Montfort University, together with seven speakers from various local institutions including The University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, presented their recent research progress to an audience of 40 comprised of MPhil and PhD students on 16 January. Active and interesting discussion was generated as a result of the presentations.

On 17 January, the UK researchers went on a technical visit to the new Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) headquarters building and Hong Kong Science Park, to share in the development of environmental-friendly buildings in Hong Kong. The programme culminated in a concluding discussion between the UK researchers and local academics to discuss opportunities for future collaborations on 18 January.
