The British Council is providing a professional development opportunity for experienced cultural managers with an internship at prestigious music centre The Sage Gateshead in the UK. This placement is being offered through the Cultural Internship Programme funded by the Home Affairs Bureau and administered by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC).
Two internship places will be offered where the selected candidates will engage in a 12-week placement programme with The Sage Gateshead in Newcastle in the UK commencing in May 2010 and September 2010 respectively. The Programme will be placed in areas including marketing and strategic communications, audience development, fundraising, venue management, programming, conference and events management, customer services, learning and participation. Actual placement areas will be agreed between the selected candidates and The Sage Gateshead.
The Programme will be supplemented with meetings with cultural institutes in Newcastle. The British Council will also arrange for the interns to visit cultural organisations around London.
A bursary of around £9,500 will be provided to the selected candidate, covering the cost of return air ticket, accommodation, transportation, allowance for living expense during the period etc. Application will close on 7 December, 2009.
