The British Council China is working in partnership with the China National Institute for Educational Research (SETC), the Chongqing Education Commission and the Global Action Plan UK to develop an online climate change teaching resource for use in junior and senior middle schools. The resources will focus on five topics: energy, waste, transport, water and food and will be adaptable to local issues in China.
The primary aims of this online resource are to:
- Increase the capacity of teachers to communicate climate change knowledge and understanding through interactive teaching methods.
- Teach about climate change through five environmental themes which are based on UK sustainable education policies and teaching approaches.
- Support students to develop research based study that encourages and measure behaviour changes in the school setting to reduce the school’s carbon footprint.
Please check back here when the resource will be available online in September 2009.
