The British Council, the British Consulate-General and RTHK radio 4 are bring an exciting new British performer to Hong Kong for two performances this month. Mara Carlyle’s ethereal voice and contemporary instrumentals have led to rave reviews in the British music press for her debut album The Lovely, in which Mara sings her way through church music, jazz, bluegrass, opera and electronica in various ensembles. One of the most talented and original singer-songwriters to emerge from the contemporary UK music scene, come and experience first-hand the magic of Mara Carlyle at the following performances.

Music Beyond Borders – 15th September 2005

Music Beyond Borders is a live concert series on Radio 4 encouraging cultural exchange, bringing you music and artists that have never before been heard in Hong Kong.  The 2005 series of Music Beyond Borders Concerts will begin with the Hong Kong debut of British artist Mara Carlyle. Event details are as follows:

Date:         15 September 2005 (Thursday)
Time:        8:00 p.m.
Venue:     Studio 1, Broadcasting House, 30 Broadcast Drive, Kowloon
Tickets:   Public registration on a first-come-first-served basis.

There will be a reception for all ticket holders before the concert starts at 6:45 p.m.

The Fringe Club – 16th September 2005

Mara will be having a second performance at The Fringe Club. Open to the public, tickets will be on sale at the door for HK$80 inclusive of one drink.
