3. UK Artists Talk
Date: 17 July 2011 (Sun) Time: 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Venue: Seminar Room, Hong Kong Heritage Museum Artists: Adam Chodzko and Matt Franks Moderator: Lukas, Tam Wai Ping (Assistant Professor, Dept of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong) Language: English Registration: REGISTER HERE Two participating artists, Adam Chodzko and Matt Franks, will share with the audience their creative processes and social positions as artists. Working in a range of mediums - from drawing to sculpture and performance to film - Chodzko draws on the environment that surrounds him, often engaging and involving the viewer. Many of his works examine systems of meanings, highlighting their fundamentally arbitrary and absurd nature and displaying an element of chance where outcomes are unknown and unpredictable.
Matt Franks is one of a generation of British sculptors whose work is made from mass-produced industrial materials and everyday ephemera. He carves huge blocks of Styrofoam to produce humorous and bizarre works with a broad spectrum of references, from high art to pop culture. More about Adam Chodzko
