6th World Congress of
International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA 2007)
IDEA is an organisation which aims at promoting, advocating and researching on drama/theatre and education through international cooperation to achieve human rights and peace throughout the world. It is a consultative body of UNESCO. Hong Kong is the first Asian city to host this triennial World Congress focus on drama/theatre and education.

The Congress expects to have over 1,000 delegates versed in different pedagogies coming from every continent. The 7-day programme consists of keynote speeches, special interest group meetings, paper presentations, workshops, keyhole presentations, poster exhibition, theatre documentary festival, over 30 programmes performed by overseas and local artist groups, and Pre and Post Congress Master Workshops.

10 delegates will be supported by the British Council's China-UK Connections through Culture to attend this Congress.
A networking event plus meeting will be hosted by the British Council on 19 July 2007 at 3/F British Council Hong Kong. The event will gather Chinese and UK renowned educators, theatre artists, teachers, social and community workers who registered at the IDEA conference. The meeting aims at exploring possible collaborations between cultural practitioners of the two countries, and the possibility of organising an International Applied Theatre Forum in 2008/2009.
