Lighthouse's Laboratory Life exhibition

Microwave International Media Art Festival, in partnership with the British Council, is hosting a unique art-science lab exhibition Laboratory Life by the leading UK arts agency Lighthouse from 5–13 November at Hong Kong City Hall.The lead artist Andy Gracie and the Head of Media Arts at Lighthouse Jamie Wyld will be accompanying the exhibition to talk about their works and share their experience with Hong Kong audience.

A Sharing Session on the UK Sustainable Fashion S/S2012

In partnership with the British Council, Hong Kong charity Redress, organisers of the recent EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2011 sustainable fashion design competition, is proud to present a 'behind the seams' exploration into the groundbreaking sustainable fashion techniques and trends hitting London’s shops and catwalks. This lively information-sharing session will be hosted by Janko Lam, the EcoChic Design Award Hong Kong 2011 winner, and Cherry Wong, the co-founder of the EcoChic Design Award.

British Animation Awards

A selection of the best of British Animation Awards nominees and award-winners in the different categories will be shown at the Hong Kong Baptist University in September as one of the programme in the New Generation Independent film screening organised by CULTAMAP and supported by the British Council.

Art of Architecture: Foster + Partners

The British Council proudly supports the exhibition ‘Art of Architecture: Foster+ Partners', which explores the major international architectural achievements of the practice that has recently been chosen to master plan the West Kowloon Cultural District. The British Council was also partnering with Foster+ Partners to present the film ‘How much does your building weigh, Mr Foster?’

Made in Britian Contemporary Art from the British Council Collection 1980-2010

Co-organised by the British Council and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, the third leg of the touring exhibition ‘Made in Britain: Contemporary Art from the British Council Collection 1980 – 2010’ was specially selected from one of the most comprehensive holdings of modern and contemporary British art in the world, containing some 8,500 art works by over 1,650 British artists.

Creative Prosperity: Talent Development and Cross-sector Collaboration in Creative Economy
The British Council is delighted to present a seminar on creative economy on 1 September 2011 jointly with the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre and HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education.

A talk on dance films by DV 8's Lloyd Newson
The British Council is proud to host a talk by the acclaimed artistic director Lloyd Newson of the UK’s DV8 Physical Theatre. Lloyd will talk about the process of translating his stage works to screen with video clips from all four of the DV8 award-winning films.

The British Council is supporting the first sustainable fashion design competition in Hong Kong – EcoChic Design Award. The competition aims at promoting the concept of Eco-fashion through up-cycling, recycling, reconstruction and zero-waste techniques within fashion industry.

UK Film at European Film Festival 2011
The British Council supports the European Film Festival 2011 by presenting the opening film Another Year, directed by Academy Award nominee and two-time Cannes Film Festival award-winning UK director, Mike Leigh. . This film was also nominated for four awards at the British Independent Film Awards and won the Best Actress Award at the USA’s National Board of Review.

Power Plant at the 39th Hong Kong Arts Festival
The British Council is proud to continue our partnership with the Hong Kong Arts Festival to bring a magical light and sound installation Power Plant to Kowloon Walled City Park, by a team of cutting-edge UK artists.

Leading Change A Forum on Cultural Leadership
Presented by the Advanced Cultural Leadership Programme (ACLP) at The University of Hong Kong in partnership with the British Council, this forum will look at the leadership of change for cultural managers and arts administrators in Hong Kong. International speakers shared their expertise on how they have anticipated change and responded to it. The speakers will also elaborate on their experiences of initiating and leading change within arts institutions.
