OUR POSITION IN ARTS & DESIGN

Having one of the most vibrant art scenes in the world, each year the UK runs up to 2000 arts events in 100 countries.  British Council Hong Kong works closely with Hong Kong individuals and institutions in showcasing world-class UK arts events such as film festivals, design exhibitions, literature workshops, master classes and international tours by world-renowned performers.

We aim to help demonstrate the creativity and cultural diversity of the UK through an annual arts programme in which we interact with schools, community groups, performance artists, arts administrators and individuals with responsibility for formulating and implementing arts policy in Hong Kong.

We connect Hong Kong to the British art scene by offering advice and information on the latest arts developments in the UK.  We also participate in the planning and development of arts projects involving collaborations between the UK, Hong Kong and China.  Along with the British Council’s specialist Arts Group in the UK, we promote co-operation in arts across borders, aiming to implement positive and permanent changes in the development of Hong Kong’s art scene.
